Lentil Daal Seasoning is an all-natural Indian spice blend from GM Restaurant in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, made for comforting home-style daal. Net weight: 80g. Vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, low-sodium, no MSG, and handcrafted in Canada. It comes mild; add fresh chillies to taste for more heat. To use, simmer lentils with the blend, onion, garlic, ginger, and tomato until soft and creamy, then finish with a tempering of the spices in hot oil. Serve with rice or naan.

What you will need

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup red lentils
  • 20 g seasoning
  • 100 ml vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, diced
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 4 cloves fresh minced garlic
  • 1 large tomato, diced

How to Make the Perfect Meal

Preparation

Boil water, lentils and seasoning for roughly 20 minutes*.

In a separate pan, add oil and warm for 1–2 minutes on med/high.

Add ginger, onion, garlic, and tomatoes. Cook for 3–4 minutes, or until slightly brown.

Once lentils are cooked, stir in ginger, onion, garlic and tomatoes.
Set daal on med/low heat for 5–10 minutes or until texture becomes
slightly thick. Enjoy!
